Although not having the best of times in the Southern Counties East Football League, Fisher are having a tremendous FA Cup campaign.
On Saturday they visited National League South club Welling United and held them to a 0-0 draw, with a replay at home on Tuesday evening.
In the previous three rounds that have twice beaten clubs from leagues higher up the ladder- drawing all of the ties at home and then winning the replays. They started with a 0-0 draw with Isthmian League South Central club Sutton Common Rovers but won the return fixture 1-0.
The Fish then drew 2-2 with Sittingbourne before shocking their Isthmian South East Division hosts with another 1-0 win. Then in the last round they played a club from their own level, drawing 1-1 at home to Spelthorne Sports before trouncing them 4-0 in the replay.
Ade Azeez directed both a first-half shot and a header directly at Fisher goalkeeper Samuel Amedu while Oseman Usifoh drew a low save out of Welling debutant goalkeeper Kai McKenzie-Lyle. Taylor Maloney shot wide for Welling approaching half time.
After the break, Fisher had a corner headed over by Joseph Adewunmi before Amedu made an excellent save from Azeez. Although Welling had plenty of possession, they resorted to long narrow passes and didn’t come close again until James Dunne fizzed a shot wide in stoppage time.
