Cameroon vs Serbia: World Cup 2022 – LIVE!

Both Cameroon and Serbia are looking to avoid an early World Cup exit today after respective losses in their opening Group G games. With Brazil and Switzerland threatening to pull away, a win is absolutely crucial to both teams at this stage.

Of the two nations, Serbia will surely be feeling the more confident. For large parts of their loss to the Brazilians, they impressed and held one of the tournament favourites at bay until a late Richarlison-inspired surge proved too much. Certainly backed with huge talent in attacking areas themselves, Serbia could still have a big role to play in Qatar.

Cameroon, meanwhile, proved really rather tame against the Swiss. Free-scoring in the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil earlier this year, they also have the attacking options to hurt teams, but looked short of ideas far too quickly only a few days ago. Follow Cameroon vs Serbia live below.

Serbia team news

Serbia could be boosted by the return to full fitness of highly-rated left wing-back Filip Kostic, who missed the defeat by Brazil with a knock.

He could come into the starting XI here as head coach Dragan Stojkovic seeks greater attacking impetus in a must-win fixture.

The same could also be true of Kostic’s Juventus team-mate Dusan Vlahovic, who came off the bench last time out having also been short of fitness.

He could also be brought in to boost an attack led by Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic – who also entered the tournament on the back of an injury – and Ajax legend Dusan Tadic.

Cameroon team news

Cameroon are set to remain without Olivier Ntcham today, with the Swansea midfielder ruled out of the group stage due to a hamstring injury.

That is the only known absentee for Rigobert Song’s Indomitable Lions, who have some interesting choices to make up front once more.

Captain Vincent Aboubakar started on the bench against Switzerland and was only handed a late second-half cameo, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting leading the line instead flanked by Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Karl Toko Ekambi.

Will Aboubakar get a more prominent role today, having been their undisputed talisman at a home Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year?
