Ewan McGregor was married to Eve Mavrakis for 22 years prior to their bitter 2017 split, following the actor striking up a romance with his Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead whom he went on to marry earlier this year
Ewan McGregor has made a rare public comment about his high-profile split from his first wife and the lasting impact it has on his family.
The Trainspotting actor, 51, has likened his divorce from the mother of four of his children to “a bomb going off” and admitted he and his family are still healing from the end of his and Eve Mavrakis’ 22-year marriage.
Ewan and production designer Eve, 56, sensationally split in 2017, following the Star Wars actor being pictured kissing his Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead- with their toxic split going on to divide the actor’s fanbase and family.
His eldest daughter Clara was initially unhappy with her dad’s new relationship with Mary and even hit out at her on social media – branding Ewan an “a**ehole” and dubbing his new beau “a piece of trash”.

The Scottish actor went on to reportedly tie the knot with Mary earlier this year, almost a year on from the couple welcoming son Laurie, one, into the world together.
Speaking two years on from his divorce from Eve being finalised, Ewan has seemingly admitted the damage his affair with Mary caused.
“A divorce in a family is a bomb going off in everyone’s life — my children’s lives,” the actor says. “The, sort of, healing of that is on-going.”

Ewan and Eve share four children together, including Clara, 26, Esther Rose, 20, Jamyan, also 20, and Anouk, 11.
When asked about the split, Eve previously said : “It’s disappointing and upsetting but my main concern is our four children are OK.”
Clara – who previously blasted Ewan and his now-wife Mary – has since repaired her strained relationship with her father and even celebrated him becoming a dad for the fifth time last year.
She shared a photo of her herself cradling newborn Laurie and added the caption: “Welcome to the world little brother. congratulations to my Dad & Mary – this is the greatest gift.”
In another picture, Clara lovingly gazed down at her baby brother as he stared back up at her.
Ewan and Clara are now even starring in a film alongside each other, You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder – penned by the 26-year-old.
The story centres around a father taking his daughter to rehab and is loosely inspired by Clara’s own journey to recover from an addiction to prescription drugs.
“She tells me she’d come up with an idea about writing about us,” Ewan tells GQ magazine when discussing the movie. “At first, I was a bit nervous — I didn’t know what that meant. I sat down to read it and I was blown away.
“It was a beautiful story about us,” the star adds.
“There’s things that aren’t accurate, or are bent — but they still reflect our estrangement for a while.”
