Flood alerts have been issued for parts of Scotland as the UK braces for a sodden week of heavy summer rain and positively frosty temperatures.
A band of rain sweeping in from the west will see gales batter the coast from Tuesday, while thunder and lightning is likely later in the week.
There’ll be a nip in the air for the start of the Wimbledon championships on Monday, but London will fortunately dodge the worst of the bad weather.
The Met Office has warned that a massive cyclone which stretches from Scandinavia to Spain will affect Britain with a three-day washout following a fortnight of sun.

A massive low-pressure system off the west coast will send temperatures plummeting in parts of the country, with lows falling to 10C or 11C in the north and Scotland.
It could even drop to as low as 4C overnight in more northerly parts, thanks to what British Weather Services forecaster Jim Dale calls a “polar maritime airmass across the country”.
As of Monday morning, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has announced two flood alerts are in place for Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.

Met Office meteorologist Martin Bowles has warned “further wet and windy weather” is expected across the northwest from Monday evening, with the showers moving across the rest of the UK tomorrow.
While the cloud cover will largely keep temperatures mild, the mercury will drop into the single figures for some rural areas in the south east – a far cry from the blistering 32C highs of mid-June.
Thankfully the skies should clear and the temperatures increase for much of the south east from Monday evening on, providing some relief before another band of wind and rain batters the UK from mid-week onwards.
