Coronation Street fans distracted after recognising barman

ITV Coronation Street fans have worked out where they recognised cocktail barman Jim Fizz. The character appeared during Monday’s instalment of Corrie as he gave a cocktail making class at the Rovers Return.

He introduced himself to Jenny, barmaid Daisy Midgeley and Evelyn Plummer and Kathy Matthews. Viewers watched as Kathy chatted to her neighbours over a drink after she stormed out of The Kabin.

She told Jenny, Daisy and Evelyn about her partner Brian’s unromantic proposal after he tried to convince her to move to Cornwall. Kathy hasn’t been keen by the idea and Brian has been pulling out all the stops to convince her.

She revealed to the women that she had found letters that had been sent between Brian and his ex, Julie Carp – sister of Eileen Grimshaw. Julie – played by Katy Cavanagh – appeared on the famous street from 2008 to 2015.

Kathy said: “To be honest, I don’t even know what he’s with me.

“I found these letters, he’d been writing to Julie Carp. It was a while back when all of that trolling stuff was going on.” As her neighbours tried to reassure her nothing was going on.

“Answer me this, why is he even writing to her at all?” She added: “He’s obviously missed her and in fact, he said so. She even asked him if he’d ever thought of them getting back together.”

When asked what she said in response, Cathy replied: “I don’t know what he replied, it was the last letter I found,” to which Daisy said: “What a cliffhanger,” upsetting her customer more.

Jim and Kathy shared a kiss

“It’s not a cliffhanger, Daisy,” she snapped back. “This is my life, you know, Just like with Roy, I could never replace Hayley, could I. I always felt second best, the same thing happening over again.”

As Kathy knocked back the cocktails, Evelyn walked into the pub garden to find a tipsy Kathy sharing a kiss with Jim moments before Brian wondered into the garden to find his other half.

After fans were scratching their heads wondering where they’d seen Jim before, one Facebook user worked it out. Kate Harris said: “He’s a stand-up comedian/actor called Smug Roberts. He’s been in numerous programmes including Mrs Brown’s Boys as the bar owner Mr Foley.”

And Corrie fans think a twist could be ahead as it has already been confirmed that Cathy will leave the cobbles after actress Melanie Hilly quit the long-running soap. @GeorgiaBowring tweeted: “#Corrie So Cathy will leave the street with this fella!”

@CHG3899 said: “Oh no. Cathy isn’t gonna leave with him is she? @itvcorrie #Corrie.”
